Default Gears

I'm needing help with deciding on what gears to get for my automatic 2007 with 35s. I have a flashpaq but I'm needing gears to help with tires. It's a daily driver so I need to help the mpg too

That's what I was leaning towards. What rpm would it put me at at 70mph and what recommendations on brands and should I get lockers too?

Just read that you have an auto. It would be different with an auto over a stick. Lockers would be a good idea depending on what kind of wheeling you plan on doing. I have Yukon 4.88's with Yukon Zip lockers. ARB's are the best, but I wasn't paying that much with the moderate rock crawling I plan on doin'. I can't help you with RPM's on a auto, but you can find a RPM to gear size chart to help with that.

I have a 2010 auto with 35s and 5.13s. I love it. At 70 I am running just shy of 2500 RPM. Jeep doesn't downshift and is working a lot less to keep speed.

There are some FAQ's stickied right at the top of this modified area. They include, among other things, a great gearing chart built specifically for the 07-11 JK. Measure your tires to get the actual height and start plugging in numbers.

Then, do a search and read through a few of the thousand other 'what gears should i get' threads. Note the specifics of who is posting. Location, transmission, driving style, etc. Find people living in a similar area, driving similar JK's. Much better than taking advice from people with the other transmission, or with radically different locations and needs. Pay attention to the posts from JPop (designed the charts) and Planman (has a lot of experience to back up his opinions).

For me, 5.38's are the right choice for my auto 4dr on 35's. Right for you? Probably not, but ...

I also have a 2007 JK with an auto trans and 35's. I had 5.13 Yukon gears and a Aussie locker installed two weeks ago and love it. I run right at 2500 RPMS at 70mph. I almost went with the 4.88 but am glad I didn't because I think I would still have to turn off OD on a hilly highway to maintain speed

David or Sean at northridge will hook you up
