Default Pinion seal leak??

How hard is it to replace a pinion seal on a JK D30?

Mine's leaking at only about 1500 miles after the regear. I know my installer will probably make it good, but he's about an hour away. If it's an easy fix, I'll just do it myself.

Talking What?

Do you mean the diff cover?

I it is really easy, just get a drain bucket/pan/whatever and put it under it.

get the right size hex key, (allen wrench) and take off the eight? bolts.

Get a gasket scraper, or a razor, be very careful not to score the mating surfaces, and scrape off all the old gasket. be thourough.

Get some black rtv, silicone, do a search, there is a few options for the seal, and draw a line closer to the outside and around each bolt hole.

Be careful and place cover back on.

had tighten bolts, then diaganally tighten the the bolts back.

Let sit for about ten minutes and then put the right gear oil back in.

dosen't take too long...

No, the pinion seal is where the driveshaft enters the diff.

Assuming you are still under 36,000 miles, I'd take it to your dealer and have them replace it under warranty. There should be no reason why it is leaking already.
