Default Rock Rail Preservation - Rattle Can or Powder Coat?

If the sliders get scraped up a little once in a while, is it better to have regular paint or is powder coating good? Maybe something else?

I would think if you powder coated every time you scratched it up. It could get verrrry expensive in a hurry.

I rattle can mine for quick and easy touchup. Rustoleum products..rust reformer to cover up/stop rust then either satin black or bedliner.

I powder coated my Olympic rock rails ...very few spots where rock rash has actually torn through the coating. When it does, I rattle can it with Rustoleum. My peace of mind is not the exterior, it is the potential for interior rust against the body or where I cannot see it. I ran the original rails for one year and when I took them off I was amazed at the rust behind the mount and next to the body....that is when I went with powder coat.

IMO powder coating is a waste of money for anything that is regularly doing to see rocks. Ie wheels, rock rails ect

I fabbed up my own rock sliders and painted them with rustoleum black satin textured. I have a bunch of scratches and scrapes on them and it would be easy to touch them up but I haven't yet cuz I prefer to have the battle scars on my jeep lol

Good feedback. Thanks guys.
I went ahead and ordered some Evo rails in bare steel from Northridge today. I'll rattle can them up!

You'll get hundreds opinions on this as well, but I think I like the way rustoleum bed liner comes out vs the duplicolor. Both are great products. I have rustoleum on my hinges and dupli on my grill. Rustoleum has a little smoother texture

Duplicolor bedliner has been known to fade. Rustoleum bedliner looks good but it's hard to clean without a pressure washer, and can trap dirt. The texture on the rails I would think would grab at your jeans getting out. For those reasons I would go with a satin black spray paint for touch-ups.
