Default Lift Questions

I have the Teraflex a leveling kit and am prepared to install it. On a past JK, it was a pain in the ass getting the coil springs off and on to add the spacer. I used a primitive looking spring compressor borrowed from autozone, 2 jack stands and one hydronic floor jack.

This time I need advice. What method or tools is best to get the springs off easier? Is dropping the axle further down the key? Help?!
Thanks
David

Yes dropping the axle is definitely the key, have a friend step on it while you slip the spring in.

I used the same autozone spring compressors to do my teraflex 2.5" bb. Not to bad. You might not even have to completely droop the axle for a leveling spacer

I dropped my axle as far as it would go and pulled the factory spring out by hand and put the TF 2.5 coil in with no issue. It literally took minutes... I don't think you will need a compressor if you get the Jeep high enough off the ground to drop the axle. My rotor was almost touching the ground when I drooped mine.

Good luck!!

For the front: Take the front drive-shaft off at the axle side (wire it up out of the way), loosen all of the bolts for the control arms, remove the track-bar, unfasten the brake line supports from the frame, take the wheel speed sensor wiring off the metal bracket, pull the axle vent tube off, take the wire support off for the e-locker if equipped.

Jack it up, remove wheels, jack it up another 8 inches or so, jack stands under the frame, lower the axle. With all that stuff above done, the axle can lower enough to install the springs easily without damaging anything.

Rear is pretty much the same...

Thanks for the help all! Do y'all recommend me removing all the tires and putting jack stands or only removing the front or back one at a time.

I have always done it one at a time, start in front or back get to 100% and move to the other.

Also supporting the frame with jack stands you can use a floor jack to raise the opposite side of the axle to make things easier, bounce it out if needed! (just watch those brake lines).

One end at a time is how I did it. Harbor Freight sells a cheap set of spring tools that I used on this and lowering my old car. With axle all the way down you only need to squeeze the spring a very small amount. I used 3 jacks as well. Just take time. It is not hard just tedious to make sure it is right.

I compressed one side first. Then disconnected the shock and swaybar end link on that side. Lifted the jeep up on one side and pulled the spring out. This is with 4" lifting coil springs. Easy as pie.
