Default How do JK's do on 35's or 37's with 4.10's?

I am buying a '07 Rubicon on Friday and it has a custom 6" long arm kit and 35" Toyo MT's. In all honesty, it needs 37's to fill the fender space. How underpowered with the stock 4.10's will I be if I switch to 37" tires? Eventually, I'll put some 5.13's in it but, for the time being, how will it do in the city/interstate?

Thanks,
Todd

35's and 4.10s won't be terrible if it's manual, not ideal. Then again, friend of mine has 3.21's and 37" pit bull rockers for over a year lol. He gets by. He's just saving up for the 5.13's it has. 6" IS. A lot for 35's. Hell my 35's are starting to look small in my 2.5" lol

I run 35's on 4.10s in the mountains of BC, Canada. I find them ok. Ain't the fastest on the road, ain't the slowest. It's really only noticeably "weak" on the longest, steepest of hills here. For cruising around town, and on flatter highways with rolling hills it's fine. However, I also knew when I bought it that the 3.8 had a rep as a bit of a week engine. However, with all the trouble the 3.6s seem to be having, I'll take my 3.8 any day.

Actually, 6" of lift really needs a 40" tire, and 4.10 gears will be unbearable on anything over a 35" tire. I would either go with a smaller lift and 35's, or go with at least a 37" tire and regear it.

I'm planning to go with a true 37" tire(Toyo MT seems to measure out at 37.1") and will do 4.88 or 5.13 gears.

Just trying to get by for a few months.

Thanks,
Todd

Now I have a 2010 JKU Rubicon with 315/70R17 Goodyear Duratrac tires with factory 4.10's and am very happy with it... I will NOT be changing gears. Click image for larger version

Had 5:13s on my 4dr with 37s and full armor with automatic....

Sold it the other day

Grabbed a 2 door manual with 3:21 and threw bead locks on it with 37s (I have all the stuff for the d44 front, lockers f/r, gears etc) and will run it for a week or so till I build the axles up.

My 2 door no armor 3:21 is faster up the hills than my 4 door geared....I have no real issues with it if I wasn't in a position to build my drive train up I'd be OK for a while....

Granted 2dr manual no armor bumpers etc is a lot lighter than my 4dr....

So yes its doable if its a manual if its auto it will be a dog till regeared...and of course added weight and 2dr versus 4....

am just wondering about the combinations of 37s with 4.56 or 4.88 but with more power like forced inductions or even Hemi.
Any thoughts ???

I just upgrade to 35s on my rubicon 6 speed and have no prob not to much slower than before, the biggest thing I noticed was stopping, it takes a little longer. havent had it off road yet with the new tires
