Default 2 Door JK lift questionn

I know the faqs show a 3 inch lift on a 2 door requiring a new rear drive shaft. Does anyone know about a 2.5 inch lift? All being said I know the double cardan is better, but due to funds on hand I am trying to determine to whether to wait for the rear drive shaft before installing the lift. Any lifted 2 door owners please sound off.\

Thanks

2.5" is not going to explode your driveshaft tomorrow, neither is 3" but he higher you go with the lift the faster the grease boot is going to wear out. If you are mainly on the road with your rig the factory shafts can last years without wearing out. Just be aware that they can split at any time and when they do it is time to go with an aftermarket shaft.

Yeah I'm going from my 2.5 to 4 inch and still wondering if I should test the water and install before I buy driveshafts. Also what driveshaft to buy first?!?

I think a lot depends a lot on how far the suspension will drop beyond stock (via longer shocks or shock extensions). The lift on mine measures ~2.5, and the shocks have ~1" extra down travel. 1" inch of extra down travel doesn't bind the rubber boot, and to me the CV joints are smoother running.

My lift is jut fine with stock drive shaft. Many are. Go with the lift you want and replace the shaft when necessary.

Just some personal experience -

Just recently put in a 2.5 (netting 4 inches in front 3.5 in rear) rock krawler max travel.
Btw amazing. ordered from Marcus at river city. If you need any advice or have questions I highly recommend getting in touch with him.
Anyways back on topic - I have a 2012 2 door. When lifting instantly at droop the front shaft hit the exhaust cross over. Daily driver would work for a bit, but the angle when she was sitting on the ground also didnt look pleasant.
The rear looked ok, I'm actually still running it at the moment. Slight vibration , once again due to the angle.
I did my research just like you are , and was pointed to check out Adams driveshafts. I got them for a steal. Front and rear for what other companies charge for just the front. They are heavy duty and I recommend at least doing some searching for them. I'm not going to brag on behalf of a company but I do have very positive things to say about them , including immediate customer service with the owner when I had a slight issue (size was off slightly , new shaft shipped same day) .

Anyways check out Adams. May be able to get both after all.

Good luck!
Jason

5" skyjacker lift on my 2011. Rock krawl every few months. No issues at all with my shafts yet. I was concerned at first but seems to be fine after 2 years...
