Default Running my 2009 JK at 2500 RPM's

I recently installed 35's and now Im running as much as 2500 RPM's on the highway. I will eventually regear but in the meantime does anyone have any suggestions or ideas for helping to lower RPM's. Will running these RPM's hurt my transmission or engine before I can regear or am I still within a safe RPM range? You feedback and ideas are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I run 2300 RPM, stock tires, with 4.10 gears on hwy... so should be fine...though i would not go to fast on hwy regardless unless you like watching the gas hand move... lol

The higher rpm's won't hurt the engine or transmission, just the fuel milage.

Thanks for the responses. I went from stock tires up to 35's.and a 2.5 inch lift. I have a 4 speed auto w/ OD and 3.73 gears. I used the AEV ProCal to make the proper adjustments. Just wondering if an AirRaid would help any. No regrets with any of these mods so far, just trying to improve performance anywhere I can before regearing.

You can't improve performance on these engines without either a supercharger or replacement with a V8. Don't waste your money on an exhaust system or air system if only buying for performance as it doesn't increase your power. Regearing makes it easier to drive but still doesn't increase power or anything.

2500rpms is a good spot for these engines.

If anything, increasing your tire size over stock, with stock gears, should lower your RPM at highway speed. I'm guessing since you've got the auto, it doesn't want to come out of 3rd gear and settle into 4th because the 3.8 is struggling to push that gearing/tire size combo down the road at high speed.

Regardless, 2500rpm isn't a bad spot for the 3.8. It just doesn't have enough torque in that 1800-2000 rpm range to settle into 4th/overdrive, which is fine. Running at 2500 is better than running lower and putting a lot of stress on the bottom-end of the motor.
