Default 4:10 gears with 35" Tires

I just bought a 2007 JK X with a 4.5 inch BDS lift and 315/70R17 Kumho Road Venture MT KL71 tires. Just wondering if I need to regear or if the stock 4:10 gears will do fine?

Mines an Automatic. It seems ok, just loses speed on the road going up hills.

Get a tuner or procal to calibrate the tire size. This will help correct the shifting. Also, keeping the overdrive off can help when encountering hilly terrain.

For an 07-11 a JK with 35in tires is like a stock JK with 3:18 gears. Most people choose 4:88 gears when moving up to 35in tires. A buddy of mine has this set up and the Jeep moves sweet.

It seems that many with autos even go for 5.13

I've heard that as well although I have not worked out the mathematics. For those with manual 5:13 is common for 37's for years 07-11. The general rule is that for every 2inches of tire size you move up one gear.

The Rubicon comes with 32's and 4:10's which makes a ton of sense for a 07-11
For 12-13 the 4:10 is better for a 33-34 in tire. 4:56 actually works out to be the proper gear for a 12-13 on 35's.
