Default At what point do you need a beef axle?

Lets say you had a 2011 Sahara, and were about to regear and put in new balljoints. Then you figured "might as well reinforce the front axle while i'm in there", and all of a sudden the bill's over 2.5k.

Then you notice that Dynatrac PR44 sitting in the corner, and wonder... Am I better off just...

...but then that bill's at about 6k.

So the question: at what level of wheeling is a PR44 actually worth the investment? Is the D30 going to tough it out doing what I do or am i just sinking money in a future breakage?

What kind of wheeler needs a PR44?

For my 35's, I put a pure jeep truss and gussets on for $130. Do that, if it breaks, get the pr44 lol I'm no stranger to the rocks

Thats what i mean. Except now i'm regearing too (1000$), plus balljoints (450). And since i can't weld myself, the truss and gussets will cost me 850$... Thats alot of investment if i'm going to buy a PR44 in 2 years.

Thats why I asked you guys at what point a PR44 is smart. I realize it depends on what I use it for... Like for me, I wheel about one day every 3 weeks. I usually do "moderate" stuff, but thats a very variable term, and every now and then i'll do the occasional stupidity. But i have no idea how to express the intensity of one's wheeling habits...

Yeah didn't think of that. But surely there's a guy in a local jeep club that would weld up a truss/ gussets for you. Cost me $50 for someone to do that and my exhaust
