Default Jeep Doors

Hey all,

This is my first Jeep. Summer is coming fast and we have a Topless day coming up in 18 days here in Port Huron.
I want to take my doors off, but I have been told by another Jeep owner in my area that putting the doors back on correctly is hard and his doors always leak when it rains since he took it off.

Is this true? I don't want to deal with a leaky cab afterwards.

One other question I have..

I was out detailing the Jeep the other day and I noticed a Hinge on the windshield.. Does the windshield come down or something?

Thanks guys!

Stop listening to him ASAP! You won't have any leaks due to taking your doors on/off. If that were the case they would leak due to opening and closing them everyday.

As for the hinge, yes the windshield folds down. It's an ass pain, takes awhile to do and looks goofy IMO. If you're bored some afternoon, go for it!

Doors are easy just heavy. Wouldn't recommend messing with the windshield.

Just be careful with the door restraints and watch out for the wind when taking them off or you'll get the dreaded dent.

Practice makes perfect. You will figure out how to carry the doors to get them seated on the hinges by yourself. If you do the carrying maybe you can have someone guide the hinge pins for you to help you out. Doorless rocks for sure!

I have it down to a science now, and can get all 4 off in under 5 minutes with the carts I built..

Only time I have doors on is long highway trips, bad weather, or the wife is riding with me

There's nothing like riding naked (topless & doorless). Except when your allergies are in full swing. I curse you pollen. The hinged windshield was so the jeep could be transported stacked without wheels to the lines during the war. It's a good idea to pull the carpet, you don't want it to fly off when you least expect it.

I believe he is referencing the mats. The first time I took mine onto the highway, it was about 4am and still dark. Suddenly I was hit up side my head by something black. It landed in my passenger seat. I was in the slow lane and hit my breaks and went into the break down lane. when I stopped, I turned on my interior lights expecting to see a big ass bird or bat. It was one of my back seat floor mats. It completely scared the crap out of me...

Needless to say, I remove them with my doors...
