4in lift advice?
i bought my jeep last year as it sits with a 2.5 daystar budget suspension lift on it and i wana change it out it has a VERY STIFF ride and i was told its affecting my wear on my tires ide like to know what a good option would be for moving to a 4 in lift without killing my bank account i mean im not looking to build a crawler mud is the biggest thing i like to get it dirty i do a decent amount of off roading and eventually would like to get quick disconnects and stuff and be able to push her a bit more but for now its mostly mud so is a long arm necessary or is a short arm ok this is some of the stuff im not sure of oh and my current tires are 31s but once i need new ima go over to a 32
I think you should really think about what kind of wheeling you want to do. There are already plenty of threads on budget four inch lifts and what they are capable of. Do some searches and read up. If that's the wheeling and ride your looking for do it. Ya just don't want to buy all that then realize a year from now you wanted more out of your suspension. Then research the suspension that cost a little more and see if that's the kind of wheeling you want to do. If all your doing is mudding then you don't even need to think about an expensive long arm kit. Just spend some time on here reading then try and figure the direction you want to go and narrow your questions down. Your asking for a budget four inch lift for mudding then talking about sway bar disconnects and long arm or short arm. Its all over that place, no real clear direction.
Good luck with your search, your gonna find lots of advice and opinions on here.

Also, with a 4 inch lift, a 31 and even a 32 tire will look out of place. With a 4 inch kit, I would suggest a 35 with stock fender (37's with flat fenders). You COULD run a 33 but even that would look small. I'm not telling you that you CAN'T do 4 inches and 31/32's, to each his own. I'm just saying IMO it will look a little odd

For the money you will spend for the 4" lift you could intall a 2.5" - 3" coil lift, and install some skids. It will be just as capable as most any other jeep with 4" lift and equivelent mods. To me 3" lift with 35" is perfect. I install 2.5" springs with 35" tires and I didnt have much tire to fender space. Then I added 1" spaces and it was perfect.
Rough country 4" lift for $499 comes with just about everything but control arms witch you could pick up down the road! Heard for people blowing control arm bushings but mine has held up pretty good and if you have a shock blow or a bushing go call them and they with replace it!
I have this lift on my Jk and its does very well for the money .. plus rough country stands by their product ... however I would replace the control arms down the road and maybe shocks as well ..

First of all, a budget boost shouldn't affect your ride at all. I have Daystar's 1.75 inch lift and it rides same as stock. I'd suggest looking at your shocks first to see if they are worn. If you go up to a 4 inch lift, even a 35 inch tall tire is gonna look a little small.
Don't do a 4 inch with 32'! It will look like silly with little tires. Tires are what gives you clearance ,not the lift. Anything over 3 inch lift requires a myriad of more expensive alterations to the chassis and steering components to do it right. Get an AEV 2.5 spring lift with drop bracket option or Rock Krawler 2.5 Max Travel with Bilsteins and get 33's. 32's are a little small on JK 4 doors.
