Newb needs some advice: 3" Lift and Tires..
Hi everyone, first official post here. I’ve been reading through this site for quite a while now and have learned much from a bunch of you. And yes, I’m a newb to the jeep world and I have much more to learn.
Anyway, on to the subject at hand..
I have an 07 Unlimited X and I’m looking at getting the Fabtech Basic 3" lift in the near future and putting some 35’s on my stock 17 rims. It looks like the lift will be a little under 800.00 after shipping and I’m looking at spending anywhere between 1000.00 to 1400.00 for just tires. (Roughly 2000.00 all together, give or take)
I’m not by any means a highly competent mechanic. The last thing I want to do is risk screwing up something major by trying to “learn” to install this lift on my own. This is my DD and I don’t want to waste $$ having my dumb mistakes repaired which I am all but guaranteed to do.
My big question and this may be a tough one; what would be a rough estimate I would expect to pay to have the lift/tires professionally installed??
Also would it be better to order the lift through (Quadratec for example) assuming they have the best price on the lift or would I maybe save more by getting the lift through the installer/dealer?
What basics do I need to know before I start shopping around for installers?
Basically, what would you do in my shoes??
Any and all advice/opinions are greatly appreciated! Thanks much in advance, it’s great to meet you all!

Go to your area section and see if anyone around you has expierience and would like to help you build it up or check with local clubs. A lot of people enjoy helping others add lifts and such and it's a great way for you to learn, just for the price of some drinks and pizza (lot cheaper than having someone else do it)
