Default Well my engo winch wasn't working

Last week I was pulling a small stump out of my friends front yard using my winch and a stow strap wrapped around the stump. The winch wouldn't engage either direction. I felt like a moron because it would not work. Fast forward to yesterday when a buddy and I tried to figure out the issue. Found it real quick when we removed the cover on the motor side. Rust everywhere and water poured out. Bought the winch last September.

Yikes. Well, I guess we get what we pay for. I am in the winch market, and my #1 concern is water. I was considering the Engo due to price and the fact it survived submersion in a recent winch test.

Not anymore ...

Is it fixable?

I am going to call them tomorrow. I believe it's replaceable not fixable. I have heard good things about their customer service. I have always had my winch covered as well.

A friend of mine had an ENGO and it packed in the first time he tried to use it. Solenoids went bad, were replaced and went again. Unfortunately good customer service means nothing if you can't depend on the product. He now has a Superwimch, don't know if that will be much better.

even the lower end superwinchs are well sealed , there is a video of an lp 8500 on youtube disassembled which attests to this fact .

Yep. And the Talon is the most waterproof winch on the market.

Yep; that's why I am leaning toward SuperWinch again. Not that I plan on turning the Jeep into a submarine or anything ... but I cannot imagine being stuck in a deep puddle, etc., and having my winch die while trying to get out.

Anyhow ... back to the OP ... sorry to see that happen. Hope it all works out.
