HELP ME salvage my rattle can paint job to PSC bumper
Have PSC bumper hanging from my harken hoist
1. I cleaned it 3x with mineral spirits, then wiped it down
2. 1 coat of self etching primer
3. 3 coats of primer
Waited 24 hours
1. Sanded down with 220/320 grit
2. Cleaned down with tack cloth
3. Light coat of rustoleum black hammered
4. 3 more coats of this rattle can
Problem - it has areas that shine and areas that don't. Looks like your typical bad rattle can paint job
Notice some of the tiger stripes. This is the best looking so far
Tips on how to salvage are appreciated

Maybe try lightly sanding down your hammered stuff and cover using the truck be liner. I'm sure you'll get a much more desired result

I used rustiloum hammered finish in silver on my old xterra to match the paint on a custom bumper. I probably put 3-5 cans worth to get it to look alright. finally texturized and all. It takes a lot to get the "hammered" finish. And I had to touch it up a lot. And over the years rust came through.
If you want it to look good get it powdercoated or a bed liner kit.

x2 on rustoleum bedliner....very good stuff and when you touch up just a spot you can't tell, it blends very nice....do not get duplicolor, definitely not as good in my experience.
I don't like the hammered junk or rustoleum spray paint though, i've had similar experiences with "spotty" finishes - if you want spray paint get krylon fusion. That stuff lasts forever and literally is just wipe and spray - no need to do any prep, dries in like 15 mins and bonds to anything and it looks great. I just painted my evo sliders with it tonight in about 20 mins and they look as good as the powdercoat did new.
i only use krylon fusion and rustoleum bedliner....i've tried a ton of brands/kinds and those are the only two that are worth it if you want a nice finish imo.

X3 on the bedliner...shake the hell out of the can and spray away. I have found that three or four nice even coats will give you a nice consistent finish. The only draw back is that for a "bedliner" spray i dont think its all that durable..imho

If your after a shiney glossy finish like car paint, wet sand it with some 4000 grit.
Then spray some triple thick clear on it and buff it with some light rubbing compound.
Will come out nice.
Otherwise I would do the bedliner also.
If its cold where your at put the cans in some warm water for about 15-20 minutes before you paint.
