Default Who has had NEGATIVE EXPERIANCE WITH TUNERS

So I just picked up a flashback performance tuner. I have heard nothing but great things about what it will do for my 08 JK! I have 35" duratracs and 3.73 gears for now. I know I will regear but its not in the cards right now.

Question is has anyone had a BAD experience from using one of these tuners? I am particularly concerned about premature engine or transition wear.

Let me know!

Been using the Flashpaq for over 3 years without any issues. I am a firm believer, however, that performance gains people claim are more in their heads than in reality. Is there a performance gain....maybe..It seems whenever I change a tune....go from tow to 87 or something like that, my Jeep "feels" different. It always feels like I have more power using the butt dyno but the feeling wears off pretty quickly. In my mind, I think it's the computer re-learning everything as sensors reset since they all get cleared whenever a tune gets loaded. So even going from the 93 tune to 87 tune, it "feels" more powerful which doesn't make sense.

I still like the tuner. It has great features for other stuff like adjusting speedo, reading codes (which is awesome feature).

I know others have had pinging issues with tuners. Not sure what the cause was but most companies like Superchips can write a custom code to fix it. How that affects long term engine wear...I don't know but I doubt it will have any major impact assuming you don;t run it with pinging constantly for a long period of time.

I;ve also heard of people with "surging" issues. Think those were limited to manual transmissions for people running the Superchips as well as those running superchargers and whatever tuner comes with the kit. In most or all cases, I think the companies can fix those issues.

Well, I guess I'm going to like it then! If nobody has had a bad experience you can't go wrong!

3+ years 135,000 no issues, won't run without it. Like already mentioned feels like more power which is readily noticeable when you put it back to stock to take it to the dealer. Plus is depending how you drive you will gain 1-2 mpg on the highway.
There are a few parameters that need to be adjusted to take full advantage like:
-throttle response
- speedo limiter
- rev limiter

Running 93 tune for over a year w/ 35's
No rush to regear. It does fine actually.
There's a big difference in acceleration and being able to hold lower Rpms and not lug.
I upgraded the tuner and while waiting for the jeep to relearn or whatever it noticeable. I would have regeared already if not for my Superchips.
