All in the name?
I know many Jeepers consider the JK to not be a real Jeep. Many more feel the same way about the JKU.
I'm not trying to open up that discussion, but I've been thinking. What if Chrysler kept the "Wrangler" name for the JK, but instead named the JKU as the "Cherokee"?
Cherokees, or the XJ, are a respected rig in the community. Considering this is a JK forum, I'm not expecting many JK nay-sayers to pop up, but for the few of you out there, would you respect the JKU exactly as it is if it were badged as the Cherokee rather than brandishing the Wrangler name?

I just feel that many people are loyal to the Wrangler branding, and they should be, and hate to see such a drastic new path taken. I don't agree with that, but I totally understand it.
But if the JKU was released in 2007 as a Cherokee, I think that people would be more warmed up to the idea.
I have no attachment to the Wrangler title. As a JKU owner, I love my Jeep, but would love it just as much of it were a Cherokee. The many versions of the Wrangler are my favorite Jeep, but the XJ is my close second.
