How early does Jeep tend to release solid information regarding the coming year's model Wrangler? If anyone has any ideas that would be helpful.

It's been a while since I've posted. I hope posting a link is ok. Mods, feel free to modify my post if I've forgotten the rules here.

 

P.S. My 2009 JK is getting a touch long in the tooth. I love that vehicle. I'm definitely in the market for a 2014 as soon as we know what it's all about. Diesel option would be nice.

 

Anyone else find it interesting that jeep has info on all the other 2014 models except the wrangler?? perhaps they are holding out on the 2014 info, until the last minute to sell off all the 2013's?

 

That's my exact thought ! Get rid of as many as they can now before they have to give them away if they do a remodeled or a new motor .. they wait a long time b4 releasing info on the 3.6 and the 2011 changes ... I bet it will be the end of summer if not later b4 they put anything official out .

 

I don't think they'd have a new radically different Wrangler ready for production anytime soon without the car mags taking spy shots.
Since they just put the 3.6 in them I doubt there is a secret engine change.
The hope against hope is for a diesel.

Most reliable webistes trend towards 2016.
Jeep remodeled three vehicles, Patriot, Compass and GC and is introducing a new all around vehicle, Cherokee... which by the way the Detroit Free Press is quoting the CEO stating that they are delaying launch of the production line Cherokees by one month, June 24th not May 24th. This all points to enough stuff on their plate.
My dealer (who hasn't lied to me yet, I just don't like their repair prices) says there are no major changes for 2014 Wranglers but they should get order sheets soon to verify... mostly they expect a couple of special editions like hopefully a Renegade.

2016 points to a good year for the nexgen Wrangler because that is the 75 year (read big rollout, a big special edition and a lot of hoopla).

 

I heard they are getting a new 8 speed tranny for 2014. But nothing official just rumors.

 

I was itching to buy a 2013 early last year. It seems to me that info (and speculation) started appearing about mid-May last year. However, the official Jeep website didn't get updated until very recently.

 

Spoke to my local dealer recently and I was told nothing other than new colors...except for a fairly late release of the diesel engine!

 

Would be quite curious which diesel would they use, whether the 4-pot 2.8 they use in Wranglers in the EU & AU or the newer 6-pot 3.0 from the GCH.
