Default Combination lift question (Body Lift + Coil Spring)

I am planning on doing a combination of a 1" or 1.5" Body Lift and 2.5" Coil Spring Lift. When I consider the new shocks do I need shocks that are for a total of 3.5"-4" of lift, or do I just need to cover the additional 2.5" from the Coil Spring lift? I think the answer is 2.5", but could someone confirm or correct that?

Thanks

2.5 is enough bc the body lift should not effect the suspension height.the shocks are attached to the frame not the body.i think...
