Anyone have On-board Air in Rear Trunk?
So I am looking at installing an on board air system in the Jeep. As I was walking around the jeep looking for a safe place to mount the air compressor out of harms way. There are some great location you guys have found (under the seat, on the rear fender well, between the sub and wall, etc). But all these spots really do not limit the sound level and I really want to mount it inside.
Then I remember that 'rear trunk' depression (what is it really called???). Has anyone tried installing their air compressor there? Good idea? Bad idea? Any reasons not to? I figure if it sticks out a little, it would be easy to fit up a false floor.
Post any pics if you have one. Love to hear your thoughts.

You could always do this system: VIAIR Corporation - 200 PSI HIGH-PRESSURE 2on2 (JK) Part No. 30005
We did a variation of this but added an additional 5 gallons to the system to make it a total or 7 gallons. Here is the link to our system: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...8915796&type=3
PM us for pricing.

Not in the trunk but I installed my Viair with the Dominion Offroad bracket that mounts on the master cylinder mounting studs, keeps it out of the way, protected, allows air circulation for cooling and doesn't use up valuable cargo room in the 2 door.

Smash boogie : that is a great setup! It's just that I am looking for ideas to just run the compressors in the box and the tank in the engine bay. (Doesn't really matter where the compressor are as long as they work right?)
I also like the engine bay mounts too around the brake cylinder, but again I am look for a warmer spot. I have has several compressor literally freeze up on me in winter when a little moisture got in when the windchill was like -20(F)
Anyone in a cold weather environment have a good place to mount their compressor?

if you have a 4dr, the space next to the speaker -it's relatively dead space and then you can cover it.
I cut out the stock tub and put in a tub made by a local jeep garage here in Perth, Western Australia. I've gone a dual compressor setup to run my train horns off as well, I wasn't keen on cutting out the floor but I think the end result is well worth it. I should mention as well that I had to completely change the exhaust and as a result she now sounds a but like a rice burner. I've been thinking about loosing the muffler and just having side pipes haha
