Diff guard problems
There's nothing that pisses me off more than to do a mod and then future mods get in the way. Been there done that on some past TJs.
Question: Are there any diff guards on the market that DO NOT work when a lift is installed? Track bars hitting, etc. After reading through countless old threads I didn't see a definite answer.
It's time for me to add some diff protection on a stock Rubi however I don't want to shell out ~ $200 and then lift it 6 months down the road and have to replace them.
Any feedback? Anyone installed guards stock and then lifted without problems? What brands?
Thanks

I don't know about the guards, but I would hope that the lift manufacturers took a deeper cover into account, because so many people change them. I think the only thing that would be an issue if there were an issue would be the track bar.
RE didnt make room for many diff covers with their lift kits.
With the 3.5" Superflex kit I had very slight rubbing with the Rockcrusher and front track bar under full flex.
Now I have the 4.5" long arm which uses a different track bar and bracket, and now the Rockcrusher hits the track bar big time!
I had to trade front covers with my dad for his Riddler cover, which clears fine.
My rear FT track bar has plenty of room to clear just about anything.

You need to look carefully at the aftermarket track bars as some only have one bend upward on them to clear the diff. Other manufacturers such as Full Traction have multiple bends that will push the track bar up and out of the way to help clear the diff just like the factory track bar does. But, even at that, you need to make sure that your axle isn't pushed too far foward as 2K1TJ mentioned as this will cause the two to hit no matter what.
Don't mean to hijack, but I didn't feel I should start another thread regarding diff covers if this one can answer my question.
Will a stock trackbar with no suspension lift or mods rub against after-market diff covers (ARB in particular)? No suspension lift, just stock everything. I've read about certain after-market trackbars rubbing against certain after-market diff covers, but haven't heard about stock trackbars. Is there a difference between Rubicon and non-Rubicon?
Thanks.
