Default Taking the JK on a road trip.

Thinking about driving the 2012 JKU on our summer vacation. Looking at about 2,500 miles roundtrip. 2.5" Teraflex Lift on 35" Nitto Trail Grapplers. Anyone have experiences to share?

It will be fun but you WILL be exhausted after a few hours on the highway at 70 mph. For me it was fine before lift and 35s. Now its like ive been in a cage match. Still a good time though.

Heading from Illinois to the South Carolina coast. I am excited yet a little apprehensive. 70 mph can get a little loud. Especially when I swap the hard for the soft top before the trip.

At least you're coming to paradise. No legal beach driving anywhere in SC if that factors in your decision at all.

We did a 6,569 mile trip last year for the JK-Experience. We did it with 37's heavy LOUD Nitto Mud Grapplers, 5.13's, 4" llift. The mileage sucks we put in 553 gallons of fuel on the trip at an average cost of 3.85 per gallon. Definitely have gps but most people do, download a gas finder app (we used Gas Buddy). Have plenty of music or satellite radio. If you have any issues with vibration at all I'd remove the front DS. We did for the leg out to Indiana but ran it the entire trip home. Also, had a rubbermaid tote with enough fluids to change out everything just in case. PM if you have any specific questions just really remember everything at the moment but I'm sure the wife would.

Drove the Red Widow 2700 miles back from Florida in 46 hours. She sits on 40's with 5.38's and is an auto. Head winds suck, she was always thirsty but we had a blast. And compared to my LJ, it was like driving a caddy. Just have fun and roll with it.
