Default Used 3.8 or new 3.6?

Hello, It's been awhile.

Looking to get back into a JK, 2dr this time.

Just asking for opinions please.

Is the 3.6 a lot better, a little better, or about the same?

I'm wanting a new one but cash is an issue. I can get a bare bones 2013 with the new Penstar, or get a better equiped 2010/11.

Thanx.

I'd go with bare bones new regardless of the different motors.

Get the new motor IMO. I just went from an 08 to a 13 and I'm glad I did.

Isn't the motor pretty much the only difference?

Went from two door 3.8 to four door 3.6. Huge difference! I went from the lightest to the heaviest and the 3.6 four door will run circles around the 3.8.

Unless its the 2011 with the 3.8, I am actually really enjoying the updated interior. There's also some "creature comforts" I didn't have on my 08, like USB ports, a 115w 3-prong outlet, rear window is bigger allowing more visibility, etc. It just "feels" better hahaha

Plus the 3.6 puts out almost 100 more hp.

I went from a 08 unlimited, which was a dog to begin with, to a 11 silverado crew cab to a 12 unlimited sport...My sport has the teraflex leveling kit and I've upgraded to 285/70r17 duratracs...It has way more juice than the old 3.8. IMO, go with the 3.6. The weak motor was why i traded to begin with.

A month ago, I traded in my 2010 jku for a 2013... I couldn't be happier. Both Jeeps were Sports with the S package and dual tops. Both had the 3.21 gears, the 2010 was a 6 speed the 2013 is an auto. Everything I hated about the 2010 was fixed with the 2013, it can actually accelerate when you hit the gas. The new interior is much nicer, and the seats are actually comfortable and supportive.

I had been thinking about selling my old jeep for over a year, I just couldn't grow to love it. I am VERY happy with the 2013.

Deals on 2013's are out there. Hoepfully you can find one in your budget.
