How do u take the dash vents out to paint them?

On mine, I grab the rim with thumb and index finger and rotate it to the right, then pull it out. (2011 may be different.)

Lol yeah I know the 2011+ requires a screwdriver and finesse. I haven't gotten around to it

Apparently just the twist motion to remove them on the pre 2011's resulted in too many lost vents that they had to add that redundant clip?
