Default Gm 5.3 swap in my jk

Well since the hail storm I've made up my mind and I'm doing the 5.3 swap. I will be doing all my self. and I'm going to try and do it on a budget as in what I make on my motor and trans in the jeep. Just the only thing I'm wondering is what tranny to use if I should keep it a manual or put a auto in. So any thots on that let me know. And I will be taking step by step pix.

I would look for a motor/trans from a z71. The 6L vortec would be nice too

I know most people doing the swap use the 6L80E trans. If you were to use a manual I think the only real option would be some sort of T56. I have no idea though if they make a 4wd version of that. So are you using the MoTech kit and installing it yourself?

Both great motors. I'm partial to the 6.0 for the extra power and torque, but they do drink the gas...
