NEVER negotiate based on the monthly payment. Negotiate the price you want on the vehicle then determine how long the term of the loan needs to be so that you can afford it. If you negotiate based on monthly payment then they are just going to drag the loan term way out and go "look you CAN afford it."

X a million. only $400 for the rest of your life lol. My guess is if you owe 16K on a vehicle going on 6 years old you are just digging a hole too deep to get out of.

This...

figure out trade in value... look up invoice of the Jeep you want on truecar.com

truecar price - trade in + 16k = how much the new one should cost + plus about 6-8% for TTL depending on where you live.

Then you can bust out a loan calculator and see how much your monethly payment will be. As said before... the fact you still owe 16k on a 5 year old car means you either bought it used and its too soon be thinking about upgrading, or you got swindled into something bad the last time you bought a Jeep.

I'd bet you could get more for your trade and work a better overall deal if you work them a little more.

Rates are hovering around the 1.9 - 2.9 mark in Texas right now. Should be about the same out in your neck of the woods so shop your financing options around at local credit unions too.

Will they let you swap some of your accessories over to the new one? That's always a bonus!

Default sell the rubi

Then go by a new one you'll get a better deal. and if you don't get the deal you want then go to another dealer. The minute you start to walk out they will drop their price again.
