Shock absorber advice
I've modified by JKU with Synergy's rear shock mount relocating brackets (both upper and lower), as well as their rear track bar bracket. I have a Teraflex 2 1/2" spring w/ a 1' Terraflex spacer in the rear. Initially I installed Bilstein 5100 shocks (with proper length) for this setup. What I found was that the JKU "waddles" (slow up/down / side to side bouncy?) with this setup. The front is tight with the Bilstein shocks, but the rear acts like there is little or no dampening. The changed angle of the shock seems to be the problem. I'm going to install a tighter shock in the rear and am leaning toward the fox IFP shock. However, since my problem appears with slow movement, and the Fox shock is suited toward rapid movement, am I better off looking for a different shock, and does anyone have a suggestion?
I have the fox Ifp shocks. I'll say this the recover from hard impact and washboard really well. They are nice on road and pretty good off. I tend to thing out of the box they are great. I think the rebound and initial impact could be tweaked a tad for a little better response. This is my experience. I will say this with aftermarket coils, my shocks aren't matched to the coils and I have 20s with heavy e rated tires. If I had c or d rated I would be willing to bet my outlook on them would drastically change. You have to think about all the factors that come into play. Overall for the price, they are hard to beat. They can be rebuilt, revalved and built for your needs.. I say you will be happy for sure
THanks for the info, I'm running 35"s (E rated sidewalls?). I'm wondering how the fox's will work on slow motions. The rear end of the Jeep acts and feels like a boat. Synergy was no help on this item.
I would also consider rancho 9000 shocks, they are adjustable. You can set them stiff or soft and anywhere in between. For the price, I dont think you can go wrong. I have them on both my jeeps. A tj with a 4'' lift and a jku with 3'' of lift. They both ride great on and off road
