Default Spacers with aftermarket wheels?

I have a 2012 jku with a 2.5 lift and wanting wheels and tires. Someone said that with the 2012 you still have to run spacers because there is not enough backspacing on the wheels for this year model. Is this correct and how safe are wheel spacers? Thanks

Any stock wheels are not going to have enough backspacing once you add in a lift. You need to run at least 4.5" of backspacing and I believe most factory wheels are 5.5". Many, many people run factory wheels with spacers, even wheel them pretty hard, and have no issues at all. Just make sure to check your wheel studs from time to time to make sure they're haven't loosened up.

I have a 2012 with Fuel wheels 5.25" bs nothing rubs. As mentioned a lot of folks are running stock wheels and no spacers, no rubbing. I wouldn't want to load my unit bearing by spacing an aftermarket wheel!

Are you on stock suspension and tires, though? I'm on 2.5" lift, 37x12.50-17s with 4.5" BS and get a little rub on the front LCA's at full lock. Can be adjusted out using the steering stop screw, but that in turn decreases my turn radius. Rub is very minor anyway.

Thanks for all the replies. Think I'm just gonna go with factory wheels and spacers. Is it any real maintenance for the spacers once they are on?

I had spidertrax on my 08... Zero issues. Just check the torque every oil chg/tire rotation.

I've got 1.5" spacers on my 4.5" bs rims, looks great and no issues. I have the RC hubcentric spacers, they have been flawless.

Stay away from wheel spacers. Run a 285 or narrower tire on factory wheels or 71.5 -73 mm center bore on aftermarket wheels without hub-centric rings for 295 or wider tires.
