I just can't stand plastic on my jeep

 

As ugly as they are, they do offer some protection. It could potentially save from frame and body damage in the event of an accident.

 

You'll want some kind of protection back there.....I went with a genright in all aluminum after a couple months like this.

Plenty of us run Evo d-rings. I love the look.

 

I dont really see how the stock rear would offer any relistic ammount of protection. I litterally almost bent mine in half by hand. It is all hollow playschool plastic. Ide imagine any thing that hit it with more mass then a kid on a bike and the bumper would be useless

 

Gotta agree with you completely. The plastic is one step above a Styrofoam cup glued to the rear end. Ripped mine off long ago and love the naked look. So, protection???, not a chance with that flimsy shell.

 

I ran mine with a Hi-Lift jack as my rear bumper for about 2 years. Looks more "jeep" than that poor excuse of plastic. This year, I went with a JCRoffroad stubby bumper and put the Hi-Lift back inside.

 

My soon to be wife. Got a little to close to a tree and I can tell the stock bumper is crap!

 

But for what it's worth the tail lights are tough. It just popped the side reflector off.
