Default Teraflex 3.5" lift to soft?

Longtime lurker with a problem. History: Bought jeep new, late 07 and put a tera flex lift kit in it soon after. Never got to much wheeling with it other than hunting but not hardcore. It has always been soft, diving when I hit the brakes, etc. Well now I am starting to do trails and I can see I have a problem. It is hitting the stops with the small stuff and really causing problems if I try to climb or go over anything big. There is hardly any room between axle and frame. My jeep is not much taller than a new stock one and I am on 37's. Is this normal or do I have weak springs? Or did tera flex change the springs since then? Sorry for the long post. Just trying to lay it all out as best can.

Post some pictures. BTW, Teraflex don't make a 3,5" lift. Only 2,5", 3" or 4" lift and some higher one too. With 37" tires and regular fenders you will need tall bump stops to prevent rubbing and I guess that is what you mean by there is not a lot of space between the frame and the axle.

Shocks are what came with kit.

Afraid your wrong, still have the original box and instructions for the lift. Might be the first version or something. And I am almost sitting on stops. Feels like a boat going around corners.

9550's or did they have another shock then ?
3.5 is a good amount of lift but you need a good amount of bump stop to keep the tires of the flares (if not trimmed)

Teraflex is a vender here. Best bet would be to PM them. The other poster is correct...... TF currently does not offer a 3.5". Not saying, they did not in the past. That I do not know.

Good luck

Kjeep Thanks for the info. I did not have a problem hitting flares, I was hitting the bumpstops and trackbar mount. I will check with TF. Thanks.

If it quits raining, I take some pics. Kit came with new bumpstops and upper/lower adj. control arms, shocks, etc. Jeep cannot carry any weight at all, put 5 people in it and it is bottomed out.

Please provide pictures of your bumpstop heights, trackbar orientations, control arms, shock, and springs please. It will greatly help evaluate what you are describing better than words. I have some ideas as to what you're problems are but I'm not going to start throwing out terms till I can see what's going on.

I will keep checking back and try to help you out best I can.

Well, it you put the lift on in late 2007, then it is on for almost 6 years. Not that long but coils do sag over time and shock do wear out. Might be time to buy new coil springs and shocks. But contact Teraflex and see whet they say. They might just send you new ones.
