Default EVO D Ring Mounts - Need Some Experienced Feedback

Looking at going with the Evo D Ring Mounts. Had a few questions before pulling my AEV Rear Bumper to put these on with the TeraFlex hinge carrier.

1) Any issues with cops and not having a rear bumper? I live in VA...

2) Anyone been rear ended? How bad has that turned out for you?

3) Any issues with insurance company and being rear ended?

4) When wheeling have you had any issues with landing on your rear corner at all? I know of one drop on the local trail that I am worried without a bumper could cause some damage to the corner.

5) Do you ever miss having a bumper?

Thanks guys!

Damage to rear panel.. This could def happen so that's why you might as well buy the rear armor that evo has and weld a tube on the corner.

Not having a rear bumper.. Being that the stock rear bumper is completely plastic I don't see not having that plastic on an issue.

In an accident.. You are probably going to see more damage if you get rear ended without a rear bumper then with a rear bumper so that's all kind of up in the air with me. I love my evo mounts, how they look and function.

I have my bumper still on there but not for long I'm going to get the evo skins and the evo d rings and since I have the how hitch receiver then I have the tow hitch sticking out. So if I get rear ended or someone hits me while I'm parked I won't get much damage

Yea, I have the hitch mounted as well. I figure if a car rear ends me they are going under me more than anything. Just not sure how everything else holds up. I would hate to do it and something happen and my insurance company get pissy or something.

But the bumper is only plastic.

If you get rear ended its not going to be you're Insurance that has to pay.

I love mine and have nothing bad to say at all about the product. I found out that when on the trail I rarely hit the frame at all
If I'm correct you gain about 4" of clearance from them.
I hope this helps. Cheers

The corners are a big concern of mine as well. I've been watching this thread to see responses. I'm not a huge fan of the corner guards. Don't get me wrong... I love the protection just not the looks. I wasn't as concerned about this until the ass-end of my Jeep walked around on me when climbing out of a notch. I ended up rubbing the plastic (tuperware) bumper corner and caving it in. It showed me just how close I got to getting into the sheet-metal.

A nice product idea for EVO would be to add some tubes to the plate that bolts onto the site of the frame. Kinda like the tubes on a smitty SRC rear. (Done tighter, closer to the body, and better of course ) This would resolve my concern and I would buy the D-Ring mounts in a second!

I too was thinking these would be great if I could pair them with a slightly redesigned tube portion of the AEV bumper I already have. Just something to try and slide me off whatever I could come down on so the pretty parts wouldn't get tore up.

I just know one ledge on our local trail where my buddy's YJ on 40's with 6 inches of lift hits his rear bumper. I know mine would definitely hit.

I know there has to be more people with experiences with these.

Check with your local law enforcement. I have not hear do any issues, but theres always that chance.

If you take the proper lines, you dont need to worry about landing on the corners. Most guys I wheel with run this set up and I have yet to see anyone have this problem..

Do I miss having a bumper? No, I have the full combo on my rig!

While I completely agree with you and the choice fro "better" lines. I think you would agree that this isn't always possible. A little insurance never hurt and it seems like it would be fairly easy to add. My EVO D-Ring Frame mounts are on order and I plan to make something up for myself. I'm just saying that if you were to add this as an option you might sell more, as I know I am not the only one that likes these but are worried about their corners.
