Default Need help with 33x12.50 tires for stock Sahara rims!!

I ran across a set of Kumho KL71 33x12.50r18 tires used ,with just a year worth of tread already worn, on my local for sale website. The guy told me he wanted $200 for the whole set, that he just wanted to get rid of them and that they were on his wife's Tahoe because she did not like the noise quality. After seeing pictures I can see that they have probably only have a few thousand miles used, but my biggest question is how well and how safe is it to run a 7.5 inch wide wheel on a 12.5 inch tire? I've seen this setup on a previous Sahara model, and wide tires on stock wheels, but I also want know if I should jump on this deal? Just looking for opinions and suggestions.

You'll be fine to run it, nothing "unsafe" about it.

Jump on it.

Thousands of people run them on here. There is no issue regardless of what some tire shops say

Yeah I have a friend with a tire shop and I want to hear his opinion, but I haven't read or heard any problems yet so far, so its sounding good to me.

I run 35X12.50's on stock wheels and they are fine. The main thing you need to be aware of is getting the air pressure right so the tire has a flat contact patch with the road. You will also want to use some 1.5" spacers.

Just something that got me worried, but after seeing so many JK running stock rims and wide tires, I guess there are no problems and just recommendations from the tire manufactures.

Those pictures are a little exaggerated, I've been on both ends of the spectrum 12.5 on a 6" rim and 10.5 on a 10" rim- neither were "dangerous" and I even dropped down to 14psi with the 10" wide wheels.

Take a look at the size of the bead and you'll see it's not going anywhere. There are thick steel cords in there to keep it in place.

The recommended wheel size is based on the ideal size for tire wear, performance, and safety. Unless you are really pushing the margin, or don't have the tires inflated properly, they will be fine.
