Default Leveling kit vs 2.5" lift

Ok, I have a question. My JKU has a TF leveling kit on it. Would there be much or any difference if I installed a TF 2.5" lift kit?

I would think there would be a noticeable difference with regards to ride quality, articulation, etc. Essentially, all a leveling kit does is compress the top of the springs a bit, resulting in said lift. Compressing the springs, though, makes them tighter, resulting in a little more harshness of the ride. An actual 2.5" lift will give you springs that are actually longer than the factory ones, plus longer travel shocks designed for that amount of lift. Your ride quality will improve, probably closer to stock really, and you should have much better articulation off-road.

Leveling kits are really only good for aesthetics. Sure, they allow you to fit larger tires under your rig, but they don't really do much for off-road performance other than add a bit of ground clearance.

And since I just noticed you live in Utah....you'll want the improvement in articulation. I know I would if I lived that close to Moab!

Hope this helps.

I went from a TF leveling kit to the AEV 2.5" lift. Night and day difference in the two. I gained a minium of 2"s when I changed, probably more. The ride is night and day better. A leveling kit is nice for 33's and light wheeling. If you plan on more than mall crawling and 33's I would a 2.5" or higher lift is a must.

Yes there is quite a bit of difference between the two. On the coil versions of each, the leveling kit raises the front 2" vs. the 3.1" of the 2.5" coil. With the BB versions there is only 1/2" difference between them. Put a 4dr 2.5" under a 2dr for an extra 1/2". Add some 3-4" shocks for even more flex.

I wanted to retain all factory suspension components and it seems any with a TRUE 2in lift would allow you to retain stock brake lines and front sway bars ect....

Most 2.5in lifts actual and TRUE lift is 3~3.5in

I just purchased a Leveling Kit from Eibach which is 4 Actual springs and hopefully 1.5~2in max lift on my 2 door. With my leveling kit I get more articulation for off road too. I have new 2013 Rubi RED shock take offs to install was well.
