Lightbulb SFZ Very Preliminary Images of the Half Door Uppers

Ok folks, I probably shouldn't share these as they are very preliminary from two weeks ago, but I get emails everyday asking about the uppers. So here are a few images of the very preliminary uppers. I met again today with the design folks to go over the next phase and have three meetings next week to fine tune, so stay tuned.

I know, I know, these don't show how the uppers attach or how exactly the window works, just wait and I will post more images as I get them over the next couple of weeks.

Default uppers

Thanks Bill, I appreciate you sharing that and can't imagine the frustation of planning a design and release of an entirely new way to do a half door upper. I have to think the it is still at 6 months away from any kind of production....do you thin that is somewhat accurate?

thx Cliff

Cliff, I'm not sure if frustration is a strong enough word to describe the planning and design process on something so unique. I do know it has been one heck of a ride and that the end result (much like the doors themselves) will be well worth the effort we are putting into the design. I met with the design team again today and I should have additional images late this week to share.

Trying to keep the slick slim lines on the outside, and adding additional mounting locations on the inside so that you don't get the wind pulling out the upper at highway speeds like other uppers.

i really like what you guys are doing here. if you can somehow make the window open when installed you will have a product that will sell itself. I would buy these doors/uppers in a heartbeat. i'm sure many other would too.

Thanks, the windows will be removable in just a few seconds and they will come with a padded bag to store them so they don't get beat up.

I have been wanting Soft Doors desperately for the past year. I been waiting for something this cool to show up.

I imagine the uppers being hard polymer type of material will still be rigid and strong yet lightweight and less wind noise than zipper type uppers

My Credit Card is ready

The uppers will be made of the same plastic as the doors are, so they will be very strong and lightweight. The doors weigh only about 15 pounds and the uppers should weigh less then half that around 6 pounds, maybe even less as there isn't much in the way of hardware like the doors (hinges, handles, etc.)

Just to clarify, will the window portion be removable with the upper installed? Or does the whole thing need to be removed? Thanks.

Yes, the window will be removable out of the upper and you will be able to store the upper in a supplied padded bag.
