Default Help me pick my protection

I am going to be going to the Jeep Jamboree in Hot Springs, AR in Oct. I want to add more protection under my 2012 JKU. I am looking at the Evo off road Pro Tek skid plates and the Riddler diff covers. I am hoping to add both, but may only be able to afford one or the other. So if you had to choose which would you add?

I'm assuming the Evo ProTek is coverage for the trans/motor/oil pan? That's the route I went with the Rock Hard skid plate. I was less worried about my duffs and more concerned with the motor and trans. Diff protection is still on the list however.

Don't forget the EVAP Canister--Jeep should have painted a target on that thing, it's just asking to be hit

The 12's at least come with an attempt at a plate/cage for the EVAP. Thus there are very few aftermarket options. I have a MORE Evap skid.

Yes the Evo skid covers the engine/trans/oil pan. I guess a damaged or leaky diff is not as big an issue as a messed up tranny or oil pan. I will look into the evap canister protection too. Looks like Poison Spyder makes one for about $90. Thanks for the replies.

I went with the rockhard skid that protects the oil pan and transmission. Very solid and provides one smooth surface which I like.

For the EVAP, I haven't done it yet but look into the relocation kits.

I just got under there and looked and mine does have a skid over the evap canister. While I was looking I figured that the most exposed link under the jeep right now is the steering stabilizer. I think I will go with the Rancho Kit as it has a relocation kit and new stabilizer all in one. I already have a Rancho lift that I am super happy with too. I just need to have someone dump a couple grand in my lap so I can get everything I need protected! Any takers???

Yeah, like I said I haven't done it yet, but that stock EVAP skid looks like a tin can to me.

That's, actually, a tough question.... Skids are a lot sexier to have, but, IMHO....you're more likely to crack a diff cover than the oil pan. Those stamped tin diff covers from the factory are garbage, and draining diff fluid will ruin your day real fast.
I would, and have, spend the money on a quality pair of covers and lube lockers before belly skids.

I agree. After laying under the jeep trying to imagine rolling over rocks the steering stabilizer and front diff look really exposed. I just ordered the Poison Spyder diff covers.
