How do you carry extra fuel/water/etc
Whether you're adventuring across the country, or out on the trail, we all need that "little bit extra" sometimes to get us through the day and safely home. Let's see some of your setups for carrying extra fuel, water, and anything else one might need. Is it better to have it and not need it or is carrying "too many" extras considered overkill?
I recently added a spare tire bracket to hold a 3-gallon rotopax fuel can. I've never needed it myself (luckily) but I've helped out stranded vehicles on the trail with an extra gallon or 2 of gas on more than one occasion.

Fuel mileage is greatly reduced when in 4 low on air downed tires. So having spare fuel for longer trails is a good idea.
I'll be getting an AEV rear bumper system soon with the 10 gallon fuel pack that sits in behind the spare. The fuel container should be protected from trail damage and from the sun. The AEV bumper has a 5 gallon water tank too. The water would be good for emergencies, empty radiator, washing injuries, washing hands; but I would not drink out of it unless I HAD to.
I did a 62 mile round trip on a rough trail and used 12 gallons of gas with a 2012 Rubicon 2DR auto trans loaded with overnight camping gear. That's 5 miles to the gallon when crawling off road, mostly at 10 mph or less, it takes 5-6 hrs to do the 31 miles with rest stops every once in a while.
