I recently up graded my TR end and bar to Synergy and I have some rubbing/grinding going on. On my driver side, I have noticed that my(inner side) rim is being rubbed on by TR assembly.........do I need spacers? If so how much of spacing do I need? I am running stock rims with 265x70x17 tires, I plan on going bigger (285 or 315) down the road but not in the near future.

 

a 1.5" hubcentric spacer will clear you right up. Spidertrax is good one, I've run them for a couple years.

 

Odds are is its cause the aftermarket parts are just different from stock and spacers would solve ur issue.... 1.5-1.75" will be fine

 

How strong are these spacers? Could they break?

 

No u will be fine....my buddy just took his off today. He's a member on here I'll ask if he wants to sell them if u want

Search on SpiderTrax, lots of threads here and on pretty much any other 4x4 forum. Assuming you install them correctly, and maintain them, you won't have any issues. If you don't install them correctly, and can't be bothered to check them with each tire rotation, you're better off with new rims.

Another possible negative is that some/many shops will not rotate your tires if you are running spacers.

 

And what do you mean by install and maintain correctly? People put these on wrong? I dont see how!

 

Install- put the lug nuts on the right direction (note the conical side) and maintain is simply verify they haven't loosened up when you rotate your tires.

Remove retaining clips
Thread locker
Torque
Check wheel stud clearance
(for some spacers - trim the studs)
Remove tires and check torque after xx miles
Check torque at each rotation

Dunno, but I could see some people taking shortcuts in there somewhere.
