I have a 2012 JKU Sport with 3" lift and 35's.

Yesterday, I almost traded it in for a Rubicon, but my girlfriend rightfully pointed out, that no matter what I bought, I'd still spend money upgrading it... since, Im a guy.

So I got a quote for the following: for exactly 10K installed from a 4x4 shop thats been around for a few years.

Rear ARB lockers, 4.88 gears, Alloy rear axles (35 spline).

Front Dynatrac Prorock 44 w ARB lockers, RCV joints, 1350 u-joint, drive shaft w/yoke + splicer joints.

ARB high output compressor with Tire Inflation kit

NP241 Rubicon Transfer Case (used but rebuilt)

Should I do it?

 

That seems like it's in the ballpark. Maybe 2k in parts for the rear, plus 5k for the front, plus 1-1.5k for the tcase (ish? I guess you can find them lower, but I sure haven't seen any lately), plus 275 for the compressor, plus all of the labor at shop rates. Doesn't seem like he's trying to bend you over, anyway.

 

Front PR44 is $4900 as I bought one last fall, The ARB compressor was $270.00 for the one to inflate tires, you can pick up a Rubi T case for a grand plus sell yours for $400-600 to offset the cost, Then rear axles, ARB locker, gears, install kit figure $1900.00. That adds up to $7670.00 for parts. If you can get someone to help you install the axles and T case the only labor would be setting up the rear gears for say $400-500 bucks. You would save enough to get drive shafts and skid plates too. Recommend putting in drive shafts when doing axles in case your yokes are different for the shafts. My Tom Woods ones are different so you don't mess with the backlash installing later.

That price is good as long as they do a really good job and it comes out looking as good as factory rubi or better

I'm picky about wiring and routing of cables and the locker controls

It includes front drive shaft.

Not an option to get someone to install case and axle. I prefer to have shop install so if I have issues, they will fix it... the shop has been good to me in the past, plus I travel for a living, so its pretty much almost impossible for me to schedule that much down time.

I will be selling all the takeoffs.

 

Didn't know factory rubicons looked different then regular jk lol....

Put a Rubicon sticker on it and it will fool 99% of the people and you dont need to mod.....

It will work as good as a rubicon...

 

With a PR44 and ARB lockers, it better work better than a Rubicon!

 

But you'll still have to get your shoes dirty walking up front to disconnect...

When Rubi's allow you to air down and air back up from the cab, I'm buying one... and wearing flip flops 100% of the time.
