Default Who makes the best gears?

I am about to pull the trigger and order the gears for my 2010 2 door automatic. Question is which ones to go with? Yukon,alloy,g2,American standard? I am leaning towards 5:13 instead of 4:88. You guys or gals have any opinions? Thanks!

Honestly, most of them are imported and similar in quality. Having them installed correctly is more important than the brand.

This I know. I have a friend at a shop that has built a ton of axles so I'm not too worried on the install. He was saying yukon seem to set up better but he also said that could just be his opinion. He doesn't have a preference on what I bring him haha.

I just had 4:88 g2 gears installed at 4wheelParts. My concern was finding an installer that knew what they were doing and provided a good warranty. I screwed up and purchased the gears separately and missed out on a killer special they had going. I believe it was for gears and front upgraded axels including install for under $1400. Their warranty is what sold me. Most places would only warranty for 30 to 90 days. They have a optional 3 year 36000 mile warranty.

I was told that Yukon and Motive are actually build in the same warehouse and then packaged differently depending on where they are being shipped.

I have the Yukon personally because Northridege has the best deal and stock the Yukon(w/motive part numbers by the way)

My G2 4:88's have been perfect through about 15k miles thus far.

Ok so I think I am gonna get the package deal from 4ws.com. Where I live is fairly hilly so should I go 4:88 or 5:13 to keep the Jeep in overdrive at 55mph?

5:13 and you STILL will be out of O.D LOL. I run G2 5:13's on 35's and 90% on the highway I am OUT of O.D. In O.D you can maintain speed ~ ish @ 70+ minus hills. I have an exhaust , programmer and AFE filter if that helps. I am going LS3 as soon as I get the cash all set I am so done with this sad 3.8 and way overgeared auto in this pig.

Is regearing worth it? At the risk of sounding stupid here what if I just keep the overdrive off? This is the first jeep I have had that I have gone this extreme with so as far as gears lockers and all I am completely new.

An 07-11 automatic needs 5.38s and a tuner to stay in OD with 35s. At lower elevations and with rigs that aren't as heavy, 5.13s will suffice with a tuner.

Problem is that they no longer make 5.38s for the Dana 30--at least to my understanding. You need a Dana 44 front axle to run 5.38s.

No other upgrade will have more impact on your performance than regearing. Even swapping an LS, Hemi, or supercharger requires regearing to operate efficiently with oversize tires.

To answer your question, 3.73 gears with an 07-11 automatic turns the same engine rpm--producing the same power--at highway speeds as it would with 5.38s and the overdrive turned off. Rumning with the OD off at highway speeds is a temporary solution that will work. It will still be weak around town and offroad.
