Default Front driveshaft CV joint tore

Well I see that my front driveshaft cv joint boot is torn. How long do you think that the joint will hold up to daily driving, really do not see much if any off roading happening for awhile. Have done some reading on replacements, anybody have suggestions or personal experiences?

Is it the boot on the slip or actual cv at the transfer case? Regardless you have plenty of time to source a replacement. Factory take offs are super cheap but at 4" of lift it will continue to rip. After market double cardan shaft is what you need. I run an adams shaft.

ID:	497716You can replace the joint, but chances are it will tear again or worse. After ours went the second time, went with Adams driveshaft as well. This joint has less than 2000 miles.

If its this one...

Take it off if your not wheeling. It slings all the grease out and the joint dries out and eventually fails. Not something you want to happen at 70 MPH!

Too much flex causes this and its a good time to upgrade to a aftermarket shaft.

That is what mine looks like. Does the adam's shaft have a 1310 u-joint on the axle end also?

Yes, one on the axle side and one on each side of the cv on the double cardan.

I drove for almost 2 months before I was able to source another OEM shaft. I stuffed grease into the joint and made sure to check it periodically. You can always remove it until you find another one.

Yep ^^^. Mine failed right before leaving on a several thousand mile drive that didn't include any off road. So I just pulled it and took the trip. Felt a bit neutered, for some reason, but that was the only side effect. LOL.

Well looks like I need to decide what to do. Either remove it, or replace it. I kind of hate to replace with a OEM replacement since it will only do it again do just may need to bite the bullet and go aftermarket.

Just do it once. I spent $155+ to replace the joint with a factory style one. Then, $345 later got this:Click image for larger version
