Default 285/70/17 Duratrac's on MT Classic III's 17x9 - 4.5Backspacking. What do you think?

Hello - I recently put new tires and wheels on the Jeep. 285/70r17 Duratrac's and Mickey Thompson Classic III's (17x9 - 4.5BS). I also did the heavy duty springs and shocks of a Unlimited Rubicon (18f/60r). I also did 3/4" spacers with the shocks and springs and netted about 2" lift. I've been back and forth about the tires coming out past the flares though. Some angles the look doesn't bother me and other angles I'm not sure if I like the tires sticking out. I'd say the protrud about 1.5" from the flares. I've had second thoughts about getting a AEV wheel with 5.2 backspacing to bring them back in some. I'm planing on running 35's down the road some day. I'm not sure if more lift (3"BDS) or 35's would make it look better? I thought 3" lift right now might be too much with 33's? Just wanted to get some other peoples opinion on how they look or maybe people with similar setups.

Thanks for the help!

I like the way yours looks now. I'm not a huge fan of tires sticking out far from the flares either. I would keep it the way it is if it was me.

I put those tires on my truck last year. You will love them in the snow. They really stick and go...

Default Sticking it out there...

I like the look you got with the 33" Duratracs on a 2 door. If you go to 315/70R17 like I did on my Unlimited you will be glad you have the 4.5" back spacing. The 35s are 1.2 inches wider. Be sure to trim fenders or adjust bump stops so you don't rub when stuffed.

Like the set up! In no way do I need new rubber but I do need new wheels. Are those the Razor by MB wheels found at Discount Tire you are running? If not what wheels are those? Like the look!

Semper Fi!

Thar be M/T Classic III in 17x9 w/4.5 bs same as OP.
(Sorry, Talk Like a Pirate Day was yesterday and I missed it)

Amazing how much larger the Jeep looks (and how much smaller the wheels look in proportion) with the Rancho 4" Sport lift.

I think these look great. It's the same tire I am looking to put on my 2 door. I've decided against 35s as I think they add more strain on the drive train than necessary. But that's just my newbie opinion.

Hey Sahara Lee:
Thanks for getting back and the compliments on the Jeep. Your JKU looks awesome. I'm planning on 35's and 3-3.5 lift down the road soon. Really like yours.
How do you like your lift? Any problems going 4" with driveline?

Thanks to everyone else with their input as well.

thanks! I think you'll be happy with the Duratrac in a 285/70/17. I've seen a lot of other 285's and the duratracs look bigger and more aggressive. They handle great on and off road.
