Would this work? Putting a 2011 upper dash tray into the 2010 blank upper dash panel.
WHat if you took this aftermarket tray...
or even the stock tray...

and cut a hole in the stock 2010 upper dash panel for it?

Think it could work?
I have had my upper dash panel off and I know that the compass module is in there, but I figure that could be relocated to another spot to make room for the tray.

I don't think it would be ideal as the tray itself is very soft/flexible rubber...you'd need some kind of support system under it. In addition, I think the rounded features of that tray would look weird with the very geometric style of the '10's and previous. I'd suggest getting the daystar that's meant for your year of jeep and adapting that to have a gps arm or something on it...
Drake makes a replacement upper panel now too - I think it is fairly new. Just picked one up about a week or two ago.
I always liked the idea of storage there, but thought both the Daystar and Misch pieces were pretty ugly. I'm not completely sold on the looks of the Drake part that I bought, but I do think it's better looking than the other two. (At least it doesn't have a giant logo on it.)
