It really depends on what you want to spend. Gobi and Garvin are top notch, but you're gonna pay for it. I shopped Quadratec and picked up the Rugged Ridge Sherpa rack. With forum discount, a military discount, and free shipping, it was less than $700 OTD ($900 cheaper than Gobi/Garvin). It came shipped in a large box and each component was meticulously wrapped. Putting it together was a breeze. I am happy with my purchase.

Gobi racks are built pretty stout, definitely a good choice. I've installed a couple on Rubicon Unlimiteds, they are solid once mounted up. About $1700 or so, so not the cheapest. Do come with a ladder though Click image for larger version

Are you looking for a full Safari style rack or just a simple roof rack? I have a rail style mount Yakima that I am very happy with. Less than $450 and works great for surfboards and the added cargo basket is great to haul gear.

I agree. The Yakima system is very stout and holds anything I need. I have the Megawarrior basket as well as one extension which gives me the whole roof area as a rack. Light weight and easy and quick to remove if needed. Most of the others need to have a bunch of bolts removed to take it off. Yakima gets my vote.

How does the Yakima mount? Been considering a rack. Which model fits the JKU? How much for rack and rail system?

Default Yakima

I have the Yakima. Don't put over about 70# on it. Good for a canoe, couple of kayaks, pipe, gutters or a little lumber from the hardware store or one of those clam storage boxes.
Yakima 8001616 - YAKIMA Hard Top Roof Track Rack for 07-14 Jeep® Wrangler Unlimited JK 4 Door - Quadratec

A little install info:

Best part... Easy to pop off crossbars and towers when not using.

Different topic. What brand and size tires are those?
