Tire weight and torque/gas mileage
I'm looking art replacing the stock 31" tires on my JK 2 door, daily driver. I've decided to go with 33" tires.
Goodyear Duratracs seem like a popular choice. They weigh around 58 pounds at 18".
Toyo Open Country M/Ts, on the other hand, are a little more aggressive, but they weigh 75 pounds a piece at 18".
That's quite a difference. How much worse will my MPG by added 17 pounds a tire? How much worse can I expect road noise to be?

The gas mileage will all depend in the tires you get but switching up to 33's you might want to look into getting a new Dailey driver because jeeps are just known to get shitty gas mileage and if your off roading it and something breaks then you will be out of luck also take a look at the nitto M\T
I have a 08 JKU with 106+k miles and 33s. Good gas (88+) with clean air filter & synth oil I get 18-22 mpg pavement driving (resetting the MPG after getting off the trail). I live @ +5kft in the mountains. I have BigO Bigfoot XT tires (not a "street" tire and they do me good on the trails of Colorado & Moab). Keeping it 65 or lower makes a big difference.
Only vehicle (other than company work truck) and I wheel most every weekend
I L O V E my JeepJK

Tire weight is a big factor on stress and components, but tire diameter is also a big factor (bigger radius= more force required to turn). ie just because a set of 37's may weight less than some 35's, doesn't mean you'll get better mpg or less component stress.
As for gas mileage, speed and driving habits is the major factor. Above 70, you're just fighting wind that other vehicles just don't face. I have a 2012 with 6 speed, 3.21's, and 35x12.5x15 KM2's (61 lbs a tire, 81 lbs tire/wheel combo). These numbers are off the dash, i don't care enough to hand calc it. I drive 60 miles a day for work, all highway cruising in 5th gear...that's right, 60 miles a day, dd, with 35's and 3.21's. They aren't as bad as people make them out to be
75-80 mph= 13.5-14.5 mpg
65-75 mph= 14-15 mpg
55-64 mph= 18-18.4 mpg
I reset it about 3 weeks ago and have kept it under 70. Dash still reads 18.4
People say the dash usually reads on high side, BUT, i never recalibrated with new tires, so it's probably pretty close since i actually drive farther/ faster than the computer thinks i do

Don't know why this is in the fs side but my 07 jk 6 speed on 33x12.5-15s BFG KM1s averages 17 mpg. I've seen 19 if I'm driving all highway and keep it under 70. Haven't regeared but if it's flat Ill cruise in 6th. Any grade at all meens 4th-5th gear. That's actually checking the amount of fuel put in the tank vs the gps distance in my phone. I check almost every tank of fuel I go through. I've got it down to 11 mpg after cutting off my exhaust to hear the roar and trail running but normal daily driving stays closer to 17.
Like others have said driving habits are the biggest factor. Go with the toyo m/t you'll prefer the look, sound, and traction IMO. It's a wrangler, treat it like one.
you won't notice the + - 1 mpg as long as there's a smile on your face when you get in or out and turn around to look at YOUR jeep. I'm sticking with km2s personally whenever I bump to 37s.

I replaced with little wider 265-70/17 Duratracs, gas millage is the same. Around 17mpg city, 21mpg on highway. I am happy with tires, stocks are cra.
Also I keep little overpressure to get better gas millage.Heavy/large tires will decrease mpg it is also not perfect for brakes.
