Default OEM Rubicon rock rail or OEM side step hardware for 2012 or newer JK

For those that will need this info as I did this am .............

After speaking via telephone with 4 different part's guys this morning, I finally spoke with one older parts guy that was nice enough to drop what he was doing and take the time to investigate and report to me the exact bolt / nut sizes, etc.. He just happened to have a set of rubi rails with hardware that were just pulled off of a '14 JK. 8-)

Anyway, for the 2012 and newer JK's you need the following hardware when you install either OEM rubi rock rails of OEM side steps:

1) 8mm 1.25 pitch 30mm length Grade 9 hardened hex head bolts
(you need 4 of these for the 2dr) Also need washers/lock washers

2) 6mm x 1.0 pitch Nylock nuts
(you need 8 of these for the 2dr.) Also need washers

Note: With 2012 and newer JK's you do not use "U-nuts". They are not required.
Also, 30mm length as mentioned above is just a little less then 1.25 inches in length.

Follow-up post just to mention that I purchased the hardware mentioned in my original post and indeed the hardware sizes were found to be correct when i did a test fitting today. Just figured I would mention that I confirmed the info in my original post. I'm sure this info will be useful to others installing OEM rubi rails or OEM Side Rails on a 2012 and newer JK.

This post is great and may be able to help me. So I bought a 20120 Rubicon with the Rubi Rock Rails already on it. I picked up a set of OEM steps for a good price. I was considering trying to install the Steps with the Rails, to have a hetter look in the end. I have not lined up anything, and am just brain storming at this time. Any thoughts on the best way to do this?

Default Thank you

Got some rails off CL and of course they didn't have complete hardware (no bolts). I live a block from the Jeep dealership so I called about the hex bolts and after 20 minutes on hold decided to google other solutions. Your post was by far the most helpful and I just completed the install. So thanks, and cheers to you.

Do you think this hardware would be the same for a 2017 4 door?

With the 4dr you'll need 6 of those bolts, and 12 of the nuts....otherwise yes.
