Buying 40s but don't know what to buy. Looking at the nitto mudgrapplers, nitto trail grappler, toyo open m/t, or the maxxis creepy crawler this not a DD. What tires would you buy? 40/13.50/17.
I want to order tomorrow but need to decide.

Of those, I'd do the Toyo Mts unless it was a dedicated offroad rig, for which I'd do the Creepy Crawlers.

If the deal for the Trail Grapplers was significantly better than the Toyos, I'd do them.

Definitely 40x13.50R17.

Mud Grapplers are louder than a jet airplane at takeoff.

The Toyos are load range C. They will do great offroad, wear well, and won't take hardly any weight to balance. In fact, if you are mounting them yourself on high quality headlock wheels, you might decide you don't need to have them balanced. The only downside is that they are really heavy, but if you are going to build on 40s, you are likely to run Dana 60s or similar axles that are geared very low, and you will run hydro assist steering.

Thanks planman,
The best deal I found so far is the nitto trail grapplers and second the mud grapplers.
The creepys are going to run about $700 more so unless they are that much better probably going to stay away.
The noise really does not bother me from the mud grapplers never heard a bad thing about them and they look bad ass.
The tires I just sold Cooper stt and I loved them wish they came in 40s that's why im leaning more toward the trail grappler and toyo cause the tread design is very close.

I would go Nitto or Toyo for all around performance and durability. Trail grapplers are more street friendly than mud grapplers and will last longer, but both great tires.

I'll second the IROK suggestion, but add that the bias is what you want.

Cheap, durable tire that does well in most all terrain.

I go wheelin with a guy who runs the Irok sorry but I'm not impressed with them. He is even on bead locks and low pressure.

Ok its between the nitto trail grappler and the nitto mud grappler. Guess I will have to flip a coin when im on the phone lol

Mud grapplers. Work great off road, on rocks, sand, mud etc. They look good and sound even better!
