Default getting vibrations from my 2 door jk

hey everyone. just started to recently get a nice vibration in my jeep. its noticeable up until about 50 mph. took it to the mechanic and he said it is the tires. i have 35 inch toyo open country mud terrains on it. they have been on there for about 2 years now. could he be right? or could it be something else like a U joint?
thanks guys and gals.

Toyo has released a bad batch, it's happening in FL all over the place. How new are they? Toyo is replacing almost with no questions asked. Call them.

Yes, tires can cause vibrations at certain speeds. A rotation from front to rear may help to rule out tire wear from causing the vibrations.

How often are you rotating the tires? I rotate my stock Rubi tires every 6k miles or so.

Every vibration I have had develop since I bought my 07 new was due to tire imbalance or the fronts starting to chop from turning, and needing to be sent to the back.

It is possible to throw a wheel weight or get mud/snow packed in a rim, which will throw off balance also.

And some tires get off balance from ripping some chunks of rubber off while wheelin'. Definitely important to rotate and balance tires pretty often.

rotated my tires and im still getting the vibration. it also will do it if i take it out of gear and coast around 40mph. i also noticed when im slowing down around like 10mph it will vibrate as well causing the shift knob to shake. could it be wheel weights? took it to a mechanic and he said it was my tires that they were cupping.

If your tires are cupping then you either have incorrect toe settings, out of balance wheels and tires, or weak shocks that are allows the tire to hop across the pavement as you drive which in turn causes uneven wear and cupping.

I would check the balance and the alignment before anything. The cupping needs to wear away before the vibration will go away.

If they are heavily cupped then you will need to replace the tires, but either way you want to check your alignment to make sure the toe setting is correct. Excessive toe will cause tires to wear and cup quickly.
