Default Stock JKU Wheels

Whats the largest tire can I go with on the stock 17x7.5? I called some retailers and they said "not a good idea". I was thinking of going with the 35x12.50 Nitto Trail Grapplers.

I would love to know this as well, I have the 255 70 17's now but want to get up to some 35's. The tires now actually measure 30.8"

From the FAQ:

Q: What is the biggest size tire I can fit on my stock Jeep JK Wrangler?
A: The largest tire size that the factory recommends is a 255/75R17 (which comes standard on Rubicon models) or a 32x10.50. However, there are many Jeep JK Wrangler owners who are currently running as big as 285/70R17 or 33x10.50's with little to no rubbing issues. PLEASE NOTE: When discussing tire size, DO NOT take into consideration what the "actual size" of the tire is but rather, just what is listed on the sidewall.

I'm currently running 285/70R17 tires on stock wheels, and without spacers they do rub when turning the wheel all the way to each side.

You can go as big as a 13.50" tire, anything wider and it won't wear well at all. Height of the tire and rim diameter are not related at all and have no effect on the other.

That being said- with a tire like a 12.5 or 13.5 you should know you'll have to drop your tire pressure to get an "ideal" contact patch. You can run as tall of a tire as you want to on stock wheels.

Surely you've already done your research on making your desired tire size fit on the jeep- so I won't go there.

Thanks for the quick help guys. Most I want is the AEV 2.5 lift and 33's. I really like the factory wheels and don't want to change them.

on the AEV forum there are many people running 35's on stock rims with spacers.

Good to know. This is my first jeep and I only got it earlier this month. Not new to 4x4 just new to jeep.
