This tank is gonna last a while.
Ok I don't know what is going on but I just filled my tank on my 2013 JKU and reset the trip computer. On my drive home I realized my gas mileage was reading something crazy low like 3.2 mpg. So I reset the computer again and the reading was like 198.2 mpg. I tried resetting it again but got the same high mpg readout. Has anyone else seen this before?
No, I haven't seen it that extreme. The other day while driving at 55 in 6th gear I was registering 19.1 which is typical for me and then it jumped to 29mpg for several miles and then went back down to the 19. During this time nothing had changed, speed, traffic, nothing. Just figured it was just something having to do with the break-in as I only have 1600 miles on it.

I probably sound really dumb on this, but maybe someone can explain it to me so that I will understand better.
IDK!
I've been wondering about it on mine. I haven't had those sorts of extremes, but it does seem a bit wonky. I have around 7500 miles on my 2013, and never reset it. Not sure how far back it averages, but it does seem to fluctuate quite a bit still even after 7500 miles, and I have noticed that almost without fail a good downshift will bump up the mileage a couple of tenths. Not sure how I feel about the accuracy. Also, if I turn the engine off, and then start it again it almost always drops a tenth, now I know it sounds like I am being a bit picky, or maybe my math is wrong, but to me loosing a .10 of a mile on a 7500 mile average works out to a loss of 750 miles. Is my math just wonky? Or is my jeep trying to tell me that starting the engine takes as much fuel as a 750 mile trip?
I've never gotten the average higher than 19.9.

Just FYI, there is an instantaneous readout, as well as gallons per hour readout on the CAN bus. Torque Pro running on an Android device lets you look at them.
