Default Should I install lockers? 2DR JK SPORT

Good evening all,
I know that there are brands that sell lockers for for JK's. I am tempted to get one like an electric one or possibly an air ARB. I am hesitant because I am unsure if the Dana 30 and 35 can handle a locker? Would it tear up the diff do you think? Again, I would be getting a locker that I could disengage since this would by my daily driver as well.
Thanks for the thoughts and advice!
-Andrew

Been down this road too. Here's the thing: if you are going to put lockers in, you may as well re-gear since labor is already paid for. Now, do the math.

Lockers and compressor: $2000

Gears: $500

Labor: $1000

Go buy a set of rubicon take-offs for the same price and then you also have a D44 up front. Plus, you can sell your stock axles for $1500-$2000. So, your net cost is $1500-$2000.

Lockers are a staple for off road. I would suggest looking for D44's frt & rr that are take offs from another's rig. Easy swap....

Do you 'need' thousand dollar selectable lockers? Do a search on the detroit truetrac and see a pair of those might work for you.

If you do want selectables, a pair of rubi axles would work great --> IF you can find them for a decent price.

If you can't find rubi axles, then read through this one:

(note - since that was written, the rear d44 e-locker has been updated to a 4-pin design)

That's a regular rear d44? If you can find one, you want one out of a 'Rubicon' that has the factory electric locker.

You're sure you have a d35 rear now?

Based on the unfilled profile, I would guess an 09.....it was only certain 07's that came with a d35.

I think there's more research to be done on the OP's end before he starts looking at lockers. No point in installing something if he doesn't know what he's already capable of. Lockers are not the "end all, be all" solution.

yup, have a point here. I had Detroit lockers installed in my land rover and loved them! $1200 for the set and $600 to install both. Well worth the price and mod.
