Default 2 post lift jack points

This answer is harder to find than I thought. I have a new 2 post auto lift and I am not certain where the arms should contact the Jeep (2 door JK). From what I can gather, it looks like the front arms should contact the frame just behind the frame side lower control arm bracket. For the rear, it looks like the contact point would be the frame side lower control arm mounts (can't use the frame because of the gas tank). Based on some pictures I saw online, it looks like that is the right way to go.

Anyone work in a shop or have knowledge of what the lift points are? Thanks!

On the 2 door the tipping point is pretty far forward because of the engine and steering components being the bulk of the weight of the vehicle. I would put the fronts as far forward as you can and telescope the rears to a point as far back as you can to be able to work on what you need to. Of course things like heavy bumpers, amount of fuel in the tank, back seat will all affect the weight distribution. You might want to jack it up and place it on some jack stands to find the balance point before you jack it up over your head, that way you know for sure on the weight distribution.

Yeah I'm a tech and lift them all the time. You can put all 4 on the frame rails, or on the control arm mounts. Depending on what type of lift it is depends on where it's easiest to set up the arms.

Thanks guys. We just got the lift a couple weeks ago and today was the trial run. That is what I needed to know. I'm already thinking this was the best investment in my Jeep. So much easier than rolling around on a creeper and banging my knees on steel.

It can definitely be done! As you pointed out, the gas tank makes it a little tricky, but we managed to get it on the frame right in front of the control arm mount on the frame.
